Hybrid glass series Fusion wins German Design Award

Glass manufacturer Zwiesel Glas has been named winner in the German Design Award 2024 “Excellent Product Design – Tabletop” category for its Fusion glassware series.

With Fusion, the traditional company from the Bavarian Forest launched an innovative product on the market this summer that combines the best of both worlds: the upper parts of the stemware series are manufactured by machines in Zwiesel with absolute precision. The delicate dome conveys lightness and stability and ensures sensory enjoyment thanks to its beverage-friendly shapes in an exclusive design. The wafer-thin stem, made by glassmakers in the company’s own manufactory in Hungary, and the wide base plate are particularly delicate in the hand. Fusion is a new filigree yet functional glass experience that offers the perfect setting for a wide variety of grape varieties in five sizes.

This perfect symbiosis of man and machine convinced the jury of the German Design Award 2024 with its sophisticated design: “The Fusion stemware series from Zwiesel Glas combines elegant, timeless design language and well thought-out functionality that turns wine enjoyment into an experience,” is the official jury statement. The international, independent panel of experts selected the hybrid glass series, which was created by the in-house design team under the direction of head designer Irmgard Braun-Ditzen, as the “Winner” in the “Excellent Product Design – Tabletop” category.
